KAU held an honoring ceremony for HE Prof. Usama bin Sadeq Tayib former KAU president on Sunday, May 8th 2016 at King Fasal Conference Center, The ceremony was attended by TE Dr. Abdullah Naseef, Dr. AbdulIlah Banajah, Dr. Adnan Al Mazroui, Dr. Fouad Ghazzawi, Dr. Madani Allaqui, KAU Vice-presidents and deans in addition to a number of faculty members.
The honoring function comes as a fulfillment of recognition and appreciation to Prof. Tayib’ efforts in managing KAU academically and administratively for over 12 years during which he achieved a great deal of advancements that made KAU comparable to renowned international universities.
HE Prof. Abdulrahman Al Youbi, KAU president welcomed Prof. Tayib and expressed his acknowledgement of the outstanding breakthroughs that he achieved for KAU during his tenure in many vital areas such as the academic research, rehabilitation of the educational process, community service, and academic accreditation in addition to the completion of the basic structure facilities and academic and administrative restructuring. Such efforts undertaken by HE Prof. Tayib promoted KAU to occupy leading ranking position among local, regional and international universities. Prof. Tayib took advantage of the unlimited support of the government to establish higher education institutions all over the kingdom that are now full-fledged universities providing quality education for thousands of male and female students.
From his part, Prof. Tayib thanked the Almighty for His guidance in this challenging task and for giving him the opportunity to be at the level of expectation of the authority that empowered him with such challenging mission. Prof. Tayib pointed out his achievements in the fields of international ranking, academic accreditation, international awards, international agreements, patents, as well as the openness to international academic arenas in terms of research, education, scholarship and exchange programs. He thanked their RH Makkah Province princes from late HRH Prince Abdulmajid bin Abdulaziz May Allah have mercy on him to HRH Prince Khalid Al Faysal as well as HRH prince Mishal bin Majid governor of Jeddah for their unlimited support and assistance. He also thanked KAU establishing commission who launched the idea of establishing a private university in 1964 from which this edifice has generated along the years. He also thanked all former KAU presidents, vice-presidents, deans and faculty members in both campuses for their cooperation and efforts in the advancement achieved.
A video presentation about Prof. Tayib’s tenure achievements was also shown. At the end of the ceremony, Prof. Tayib was greeted by the audience and was awarded with a commemorative present by Prof. Al Youbi on behalf of all the university staff as an expression of the gratitude and consideration.
