KAU Granted NCAAA’s Comprehensive Seven-Year Accreditation

On June 21, 2015, King Abdulaziz University was awarded the National Commission for Academic Accreditation & Assessment’s comprehensive seven-year institutional accreditation.   “This seven-year accreditation, which crowns the efforts of KAU’s staff and community partners, was granted by the NCAAA in recognition of the highly proficient quality of the university’s academic, administrative and research capabilities, as well as its dedicated community services,” said Acting President Professor Abdul-Rahman Al-Youbi.

Lauding the great efforts exerted by former KAU President Osama Sadiq Tayib, who played an active role in realizing this recognition, Al-Youbi asserted that the NCAAA’s accreditation will enable the university to fulfill its mission of advancing knowledge, research, innovation, and entrepreneurship.

Al-Youbi also extended his thanks and appreciation to his Excellency the Minister of Education; the ministry’s undersecretaries; and the NCAAA’s staff for their unlimited support and cooperation with the university.  Moreover, he also expressed his appreciation to KAU Vice President for Development Prof. Abdul-Fattah Mashshat; and all university staff for their great efforts towards realizing this great achievement.

On the other hand, Dr. Al-Mashshat pointed out that the independent international evaluation team which performed the external reviews of the university in March 2014 indicated in its report that KAU as an academic institution had fully satisfied the NCAAA’s criteria.  The report also commended the university’s ability in maintaining a high degree of quality in its entire academic and research processes and practices despite its huge size and multiple branches and programs.  Undoubtedly, this reflects the presence of high quality systems and administrative capabilities that enable the university’s administrators to supervise and ensure its overall efficient performance and excellent academic outputs.  “KAU has expended great efforts in order to secure the NCAAA’s accreditation as a prelude to a joint strategic partnership, which will culminate with the accreditation of more than 40 of its academic programs by the end of the third Five-Year Plan,” Al-Mashshat concluded.

Moreover, Dr. Obaid Al-Madoff, Supervisor General of the Academic Accreditation Administration, indicated that KAU’s realization of the NCAAA’s institutional accreditation is a natural reflection of the university’s distinguished performance in academiaand scientific research, which is dependent on pioneering high quality academic, research and administrative systems that comply with international criteria for higher education.  “This wonderful achievement will undoubtedly provide strong impetus and greater commitment towards further improving and enhancing the academic process and research in the service of the community,” Al-Madoff asserted.
