7th Research Week inaugurated

 The 7th Scientific Research Week of King Abdulaziz University (KAU) was inaugurated Sunday by the acting KAU President, Prof Abdurrahman Alyoubi.

 Winners of KAU scientific research awards 2014 were awarded during the event, which also witnessed a concurrent exhibition.

Addressing the audience, Prof Alyoubi pointed out that the offering of prizes to winners was in recognition of their efforts and to encourage others to get engaged in scientific research activities.

He also unveiled a plan to fund 100 patents in the next academic year.

In his speech, Prof Adnan Zahed, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research, pointed out that holding the event was in tune with KAU's policy of encouraging and promoting scientific research.

Prof Yousuf A. Al-Turki, Dean of Scientific Research, revealed that the total number of research projects hit a record 7285.

He also added that the number of scientific papers published in ISI journals in 2014 had reached 3600, and the number of research projects funded by the university in the same year was 1198.
Categories of the KAU research prizes include scientific publication in humanities, translation, best researcher award, distinct scientists, international prizes and citation.
