Outgoing dean and vice deans of Tourism Institute honoured by KAU President

 
 
 
 
 

A special send-off ceremony was held on Tuesday April 8th in honour of the outgoing dean and vice deans of the Tourism Institute (TI).


Honourees were Dr Zuhair bin Abdullah Al-Tayeb, former TI dean, and Dr Mohammed Mufti and Dr Hassan Jestiniah, former vice deans.


The event, which had in attendance Prof Osama S. Tayyeb, KAU President, was arranged in recognition of the honourees' commendable contribution to the Institute.


In his speech, Prof Tayyeb said the event was being held as a mark of honour to the honourees for their meritorious service and laborious efforts, which were crowned with tangible achievements, including developing and expanding the Institute's activities.


He also added that KAU’s Institute of Tourism is comparable to major global institutes, and hope to see it further developed and prosper over the coming years.


He made special reference to an agreement with “Ecole hoteliere de Lausanne,  which supervised the Institute’s  academic and training programs,  adding that the university would not hesitate to contract anyone it considers will contribute to the upgrading of level of Institute or any sector of the university.


Speaking further, he pointed out that the idea of establishing the Institute’s started from the keen interest in tourism by the Saudi government, adding that tourism has become a universal language between different cultures throughout the world and a key to all positive opening on the others. 


Dr Ibrahim Al-Seeni, the incoming TI Dean, gave a speech in which he commended his predecessor's achievements and he vowed to continue what his predecessor had started in terms of developing the TI.
