Faculty of Economics and Administration Honours High Achievers

 

A reception was held on Thursday May 19th, 2011 by the Faculty of Economics and Administration in honour of a number of its outstanding staff in recognition of their outstanding performance and meritorious services to the Faculty.

The event, which was held at Jeddah Intercontinental Hotel, was graced with the presence of KAU President, HE Prof Osama S. Tayyeb.

Honourees included retirees, outstanding academics, administrators and technicians, as well as a number of the faculty's alumni, who are now prominent public figures.

Addressing the ceremony, Prof Tayyeb revealed that KAU had so far acquired 66 accreditations, stressing that more accreditations would follow to ensure improved quality of academic and administrative standards.

In his speech, Dr Hussam A-Angari, the Faculty's Dean, enumerated the Faculty's achievements during the past year.

According to him, the achievements included the accreditation of the postgraduate business administration programme by the Association of MBAs (AMBA), the introduction of a BA in business administration in which the medium of instruction will be English, the recruitment of new highly qualified teaching members of staff, the introduction of three new departments; marketing, finance, and human resources management and the introduction of two Master's programmes; MA in general administration and MA in general policy (political Sciences).

The Faculty also held a number of events, including monthly academic meetings. In one of these events 60 consuls of different countries took part to deal with the signification of King Abdullah's Initiative for Interfaith Dialogue.

It also organised a number of extra-curricular activities, such as the Student's Day and the Career Day.

It also participated in the 26th Janadriyah National Festival for Heritage and Culture and Jeddah Economic Forum.

In May of next year, the Faculty is also due to organise its first scientific conference under the patronage of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques. The event's theme will be "Saudi Economy: Challenges and Opportunities".
