44th KAU graduation ceremony attended by Prince Mishaal Bin Majed

 A total of 15,382 students from various faculties graduated from King Abdulaziz University Wednesday in the presence of the Governor of Jeddah, Prince Mishaal Bin Majed, who attended the event on behalf of the Emir of the Makkah Region, Prince Khaled Al-Faisal.

According to Dr Amin Numan, Dean of Admission and Registration, this year witnessed the graduation of 978 postgraduate students (19 PhD, 597 MA and 362 higher diplomas), in addition to 14,404 bachelor’s degree graduates.

KAU vice presidents, deans of faculties, teaching members of staff and a crowd of students and their families attended the event.

The students represented the 44th batch of graduates from the institution.

The ceremony, which also witnessed the pledging of allegiance to Salman Bin Abdulaziz as the new king following the death of King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz, was opened with the national anthem, followed by recitation of some verses from the holy Qur'an and a students' graduation parade.

Representing the graduates, Ali Mudkhali and Mohammed Mashat gave speeches, in which they stressed the graduates' determination to do their utmost in the best interest of their religion, nation and King.

In his speech, Prof Abdurrahman Alyoubi, acting KAU President, thanked Prince Khalid Al-Faisal for patronizing the event and Prince Mishaal for attending it.

Administered by Dr Mahmoud S. Al-Ahwal, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, students of health faculties then took a doctor's Hippocratic oath to ethically practise medicine.

Dr Hani Berdeesi, Vice Dean of Students' Affairs for Educational Affairs, then read out the names of high-achieving students, who were given the honour of shaking hands with Prince Mishaal and receiving prizes from him.
