KAU marks World Arabic Language Day

Arabic became a UN official working language on 18 December 1973 by virtue of a United Nations General Assembly resolution.

An introductory speech was given by Prof Assim Hamdan on behalf of the teaching members of staff.

A number of lectures were then delivered during the event.

In his speech, Prof Osama Jastaniah, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and humanities, said the event was held as a strong gesture and testimony of the importance of the Arabic Language.

The Day was also marked, Thursday, by the Institute of Arabic Language for Speakers of Other Languages.

A number of lectures were given during the celebration on the Arabic calligraphy.
